On March 25, 1999, over 30 people attended a special educational program titled
"Researching Your Civil War Ancestor". The local Sons Of Union Veterans Of The
Civil War (S. G. Griffin Camp #10, Keene, NH), invited the general public to the
Historical Society of Cheshire County, 246 Main Street (across from Keene State
College).
Camp 10 Grave Registration Officer Michael P. Hurt presented
a very interesting program which focused on the following topics; Profiling the
Civil War soldier based on Federal Records, sources for genealogical information
on your Civil War Ancestor, general Civil War sources, how to obtain copies of
regimental histories and information on
individual soldiers service and pension records.
S. G. Griffin Camp 10 is very interested in receiving
articles, pictures and other information to add to our site. We have the ability
to scan pictures and the use of a digital camera. If you have something -- an
article, a picture, a piece of memorabilia that we could take a picture of,
please email or write to the Camp 10 webmaster; Hal G. Brown. Thanks!
